Affiliate Disclosure
MowAutonomous is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What This Means for You
When you click a product link on MowAutonomous and make a purchase on Amazon, we receive a small commission (typically 3-4% of the purchase price) from Amazon. This commission comes out of Amazon's margin — you pay the same price whether you use our link or go directly to Amazon. There is no additional cost to you.
We use affiliate commissions to pay for mower purchases, hosting, and editorial operations. Without affiliate revenue, we couldn't afford to test 16+ mowers per year.
How Affiliate Links Work on This Site
All affiliate links on MowAutonomous use the following format:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/[ASIN]?tag=wattsage47-20
The ?tag=wattsage47-20 parameter is our Amazon Associates tracking ID. When you click the link, Amazon reads this parameter and credits us with the sale if you make a purchase within 24 hours.
All affiliate links on MowAutonomous use rel="nofollow sponsored noopener" attributes, which:
- nofollow: tells search engines not to pass SEO authority through the link
- sponsored: tells search engines the link is monetized (required by Google)
- noopener: prevents the linked site from accessing our site's data (security best practice)
Our Editorial Independence Promise
Affiliate commissions do not influence our reviews or rankings. Here's why you can trust this:
- We don't know how much we'll earn until you click. Amazon's commission rates vary by product category and can change at any time. We can't optimize for commissions because we don't know what they'll be.
- Most mowers pay similar commissions. Amazon pays a flat 3-4% on consumer electronics regardless of brand. Recommending Mammotion over Segway doesn't earn us more money.
- Bad recommendations destroy trust. If we recommend a bad mower, you'll return it (Amazon has a generous return policy), we'll lose the commission, and you won't trust us again. Recommending good mowers is in our financial interest.
- We publish negative reviews. If we test a mower and don't like it, we say so — even if it has an affiliate link. Long-term trust is worth more than a single commission.
FTC Disclosure
In accordance with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines, we disclose that we have a financial relationship with Amazon and may earn a commission when you purchase products through links on this site. This disclosure is provided to comply with FTC guidelines and does not affect our editorial independence.
Every page on MowAutonomous that contains affiliate links includes a prominent affiliate disclosure near the top of the page. This disclosure is repeated in the site footer.
Other Advertising
In addition to affiliate links, MowAutonomous may display advertising (e.g., Google AdSense, Mediavine). All ads are clearly labeled as advertising and are served by third-party ad networks. We do not control which specific ads are shown on our site.
We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or 'native advertising' disguised as editorial content. If a post is sponsored (which is rare), it will be clearly labeled as such at the top.
