MowAutonomous is an independent review site focused exclusively on wire-free robot mowers. We test, compare, and review every major model on the market so you can make an informed buying decision without spending weeks researching.
Our Mission
Wire-free robot mowers are the most significant lawn care innovation in 50 years. They eliminate the worst part of lawn maintenance — the mowing itself — while producing healthier, better-looking lawns. But the category is moving fast: 16+ models on the market in 2026, with new entrants arriving monthly.
Most existing review sites are either general home/garden sites with shallow coverage, or single-brand fan sites with obvious bias. We saw a gap for an independent authority that tests every model on real lawns and publishes honest, in-depth reviews. That's what MowAutonomous is.
How We Test
Every review on MowAutonomous is based on extended hands-on testing. Here's our process:
- Selection: We buy or borrow every mower we review. We do not accept review units from manufacturers with strings attached (e.g., 'must publish before a certain date' or 'must give minimum rating').
- Setup: We install and configure each mower exactly as a typical homeowner would, following the manufacturer's instructions. We time the setup process and document any issues.
- Testing: We test each mower for a minimum of 90 days on a real residential lawn. We evaluate navigation accuracy, obstacle avoidance, slope handling, battery life, app quality, build quality, and customer support.
- Comparison: We test each mower alongside its closest competitors to provide context. Specs alone don't tell you which mower is better — real-world comparison does.
- Updates: We update reviews when manufacturers release significant firmware updates or when new competitors enter the market.

Our editorial team operates independently of our business team. The business team handles affiliate partnerships and site operations; the editorial team handles reviews and rankings. The editorial team does not know how much commission any individual review generates, and the business team cannot influence review content.

MowAutonomous was founded in 2026 by a small team of lawn care enthusiasts, smart home nerds, and obsessive researchers. We're based in the United States and test mowers in multiple climate zones (Northeast, Southeast, Pacific Northwest, and Southwest) to account for regional differences in grass types, weather, and terrain.
We're not a faceless content farm. When you read a review on MowAutonomous, a real person spent 90+ days testing that mower on a real lawn. We stand behind every word we publish.
